Meet Dr. Wells
Dr. Valencia Wells is a native of Gallion, Alabama located in rural Marengo County. She attended Amelia Love Johnson High School and received her Bachelors of Science in Biology from The University of Alabama. Dr. Valencia Wells is a 2009 graduate of the University of Alabama at Birmingham School of Optometry. She has extensive experience with ocular diseases and conditions (including red eyes, pink eyes, dry eyes, itchy eyes, watery eyes, etc.), pre-operative and post-operative cataract surgery care, diabetic and hypertensive eye care, and glaucoma treatment as well as contact lens examinations and pediatric vision care. Her professional affiliations include the American Optometric Association, National Optometric Association, and the Fellowship of Christian Optometrists. Dr. Wells is also a member of the UAB National Alumni Association Junior Board, and she is an active member of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc.

Office Manager
Mia has been with Morris Avenue Eyecare since 1999. She has extensive experience in practice management, insurance benefits and vendor contracting. Do you need to offer your employees safety glasses? Call us and make an appointment , we can take care of that for you!
Meet Lee Anne Jones
Optician
Lee Anne is an optician with over 30 years of experience in creating, dispensing, and maintaining your eyewear. She can precisely assess your visual needs and match you with the perfect eyewear and lens design. Having computer issues? Come in and let her explain the advantages of having dedicated work pair of eyewear.
HISTORY
Morris Avenue is the famed “cobblestone road” in downtown Birmingham. It is a popular location for artists, families, unique dining, and businesses. Dr. Donna F. Matthews opened Morris Avenue Eyecare almost three decades ago. The practice serviced the general public with a primary focus on providing eyecare services to unions, including UFCW, CWA, and Plumbers and Steamfitters unions. Dr. Wells joined the practice in 2009 as an associate optometrist. After Dr. Matthews retired, Dr. Wells purchased the practice on December 20, 2013.
